Bilbao in northern Spain is the capital of the 3 provinces of Euskadi. It is a province that borders with Guipuzcoa to it´s east, Cantabria to it´s west and Alava to it´s south. The city of Bilbao is a city that was historically known for it´s richness and industry, and today has a population of approximately 400,000 inhabitants. It has enough space to hold atleast one million inhabitants.

Bilbao is a city surrounded by mountains, vegetation and industry, since it has become one of the most prosperous cities in the Basque region in Spain. The city has the Bilbao Ria also called Nervion flowing through the center.

It´s orgins date back to the year 1300 when Diego Lopez de Haro founded. It was later that Kind Ferdinand IV of Castilla that ratified this act.

In the last 30 years Bilbao has suffered a tremendous transformation, going from a city known for it´s industry to being a city of leisure and fun. In the 80´s industry began to dissapear. It was surrounding the main river that crosses through it and now it has become an area of shopping centers and cultural spaces such as the Guggenheim Museum. The Euskalduna Palace, Isozaki Atea towers are also worth seeing.

Biblao is an open city, a city whose historic center must be visited. The center holds a great part of history, as well as the more recent history of the city. It´s Semana Grande (grand week) also known as Aste Nagusia holds many concerts as well as txosnas on the foot of the river. The soccer team Athletic de Bilbao is almost a relgion. Bilbao besides being Vizcaya with it´s surfer beaches like Mundaka, that has the best waves recognized by surfers worldwide, also has many different sports and beautiful nature with it´s trails and routes to take walks, trekk, horseback ride or mountain bike.

Also in Bilbao like in the rest of the province you will not have problems finding many different types of accomodations ranging from hotels to apartements, rural homes known here as Caserios and much much more. They will allow you to be submerged in nature amongst beautiful mountains, and abundant vegetation. You can stay in the surrounding areas of the Biosphere Reserve of Urdabai which will be a gratifying experience for you and your loved ones.
